Day 3 — Certification

To receive the official GSWF PPF Installer Certificate, each participant must pass both the theoretical and the practical exam.

1 · Theoretical exam

Multiple-choice and short-answer questions, covering:

  • PPF film properties and layers
  • Surface preparation and decontamination
  • Correct use of slip and tack solutions
  • Safe cutting practices, on and off paint
  • Edge wrapping and sealing techniques
  • Common installation defects and how to avoid them
Pass mark 80% correct
Time limit 45 minutes
Rules No phones or notes · individual work, no collaboration

2 · Practical exam

You install pre-cut PPF on four panels: mirror, headlight, front bumper (section or full, as set by the trainer) and fender.

  • Work on a training vehicle or designated test panels
  • Use only the provided tools and films
  • Follow all safety and paint-protection rules taught on Days 1–2
  • Time limit: 3–4 hours total, exact timing set by the trainer
  • Each panel is inspected and scored individually

3 · The 10-point inspection

Every installed panel is scored against ten criteria:

  1. Surface preparation — panel fully cleaned, decontaminated and alcohol-wiped before installation
  2. Film positioning — correct alignment with panel edges, symmetrical against the opposite side
  3. Contamination control — no visible dust, hairs or particles trapped under the film
  4. Bubble-free finish — no air or water bubbles left under the film after drying
  5. Edge adhesion — all edges firmly sealed, no lifting after initial cure
  6. Edge wrapping — edges wrapped correctly where required, no exposed paint on critical edges
  7. Cut lines — clean, precise, and placed in agreed low-visibility areas
  8. Optical clarity — no haze, orange peel or excessive stretching affecting appearance
  9. Heat usage — proper heat application, no overheating or damage to film or paint
  10. Overall finish — professional look, smooth surface, consistent with certification standards

How it is scored: each of the ten points is either met or not. A panel fails only if all ten points are missed — ten faults is a fail, fewer than ten is a pass.
